Ever considered using your gloves for more than just keeping your hands warm? At Pitti Uomo in Florence, probably the biggest, most influential menswear trade show in the world where you’ll see hoards of impeccably well-dressed men flock to the city to see the latest men’s collections, the gents were using their gloves in place of pocket squares.

Around this time of year you’ll see tons of magazines and newspapers showcasing street style pictures of these guys and although I didn’t go this year, I always like to keep my eyes open for emerging trends – not just from the exhibitors but from the men walking around.

This one trend I thought we could pick up and use right now since gloves are definitely a must have accessory in chilly NYC at the moment: the glove as the pocket square in your suit or over overcoat. If you’re sporting brown gloves, make sure you’re wearing brown shoes and a brown belt or brown leather bag. I love the combo of brown leather accessories especially with a blue or grey suit.
